Until 1957 Marken was an island in the Gouwzee. Approximately 1,800 people live there and it's known throughout the world for the unique monumental wooden houses, narrow streets, the fishing port and colorful costumes.
You can easily combine Marken with e.g. a boat trip to Volendam.
