Edam has about 7380 inhabitants and is perfect if you want to find some peace and quiet.
In addition to delicious cheese, Edam also offers historic facades and trees along the quay. Just outside the center is the Fort at Edam, which borders the Beemster and both are on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
In the summer months there is every Wednesday the famous cheese market where you can enjoy the spectacle and taste many types of cheese.
